So, if I can’t win, then why am I running for office?
Over the past couple of years, I have written to more than 250 different congressional representatives. I have also written to approximately 27 of our state governors.
In 2007, The Baltimore Employer association was formed by 35 Maryland Employers. Each member of the group signed a copy of a letter regarding health care. We collected the letters, made copies and sent the letters to; Senator Mulkulski, Congressman Elijah Cummins Congressman Roscoe Bartlett and Senator Cardin. After months of countless follow up inquiries, we finally receive one disappointing, non specific reply and that reply was the result of catching the congressmen at a breakfast meeting and placing another set of copies directly his hands.
I don’t want to fault our representatives. I think special interest has polluted our political system of representation. Is it possible for a congressional representative to get re-elect without the financial assistance of special interest system? The cliché “For the greater good” is lost and will not be found until we can eliminate the funding of political campaigns by special interest, publicly held corporations and unions.
We have funded radio commercials, sent out bulk mailing of post cards, and sent countless e-mails to numerous political commentaries, and submitted many an op-ed to various publications. So I believe that I have been thorough in my efforts however I can’t sit still when the answers are so plain to see and yet our politicians can’t find them.
So, I hope that you will thoroughly examine this website. I hope you will share in our goals and solutions. I hope we can be heard and make a difference.
Sincerely
Michael J. Vallerie Sr.
